Fabulous fabric sunflowers to brighten a winter's day

From time to time it is nice to make something different, isn't it? I have been thinking of making a new set of flower bowls for months now, but what with one thing and another I have not had the time. So, this weekend I decided to get out my ruler and compasses and draw up the pattern for a sunflower bowl. I had forgotten how quickly they 'grow'! Within a few hours I had created 2 bowls and by the end of the weekend the entire set was finished, embellished with beads and lots of stitch.

They make a good addition to the flower series, don't you think?
I'm now wondering which flower to make next.

I have added the flower bowls to the list of classes I teach and you can see the course brochure here. At the moment I am busy with the Doodle Birds, but on May 16th and 17th I will be teaching the techniques I used to create 'Sardine Run' at Midsomer Quilting, in Chilcompton, Somerset. If you would like to book your place on the course, please contact De on 01761 239 333 (or click here to go directly to the MQ website).
I will be returning to Midsomer Quilting in November to teach Doodle Birds, but Chris hasn't quite finalised dates yet, so I can't tell you exactly when.  I am really looking forward to teaching at MQ as it is such a relaxed place.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog - I hope these cheerful flowers brightened up a grey day.

They are gorgeous, as you say just the thing to brighten a cold ,damp, winters day. Still, spring is now on its way, I saw some Crocus today in the park. Can you do the same for Roses ?

Hi Magret, thanks for the nice comment about the flowers. As you say, spring is just around the corner (fingers crossed!) I think your idea for roses is great. I will try a rose bowl next and let you know how it goes.

Lovely flowers - have sent a suggestion for Lotus Flower - with a pic - as a possible for the future. Those distinctive centres would be a challenge, perhaps?

Hi Johnnybach - cool name! Thanks for the picture - yes - the centre would be a challenge - but it would make it a little different and interesting. Thanks for the idea. I will add it to my list!
